Meet Laurene Huelsman

Laurene Huelsman is the Camp Director for STEM DayCamps of Southern Arizona.  Laurene became interested in STEM at an early age.  When she was in high school she started taking Engineering classes at the University of Arizona.  She continued to pursue this interest by majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering.  After college she worked for seventeen and a half years in the Biotech Pharmaceutical industry.  

Laurene is an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts of American, Girl Scouts of the USA, and American Heritage Girls.  She enjoys working with children of all ages and helping them discover the wonders of STEM and watching them grow as they learn they can do things they never thought they could.

Her involvement with Day Camps started in 2000 where she worked as a staff member and very quickly became a Camp Director.  She has been a Camp Director for the past 15 years, running day camps for boys and girls ranging from 5 to 18 years of age.  Laurene has run STEM Day Camps for Cub Scouts and American Heritage Girls at the University of Arizona Flandrau Science Center for the past four years.  Laurene is certified in both Scouting Camp Program and Administration and STEM Day Camp Administration and is  one of the certified trainers for Day Camp Administration and program.

Meet Collette Ebarb

Collette Ebarb is the Program Director for STEM DayCamps of Southern Arizona.  Her background consists of early childhood development and education training.  Collette has led programs and activities at several University of Arizona summer science camps in recent years.  Collette is trained and certified in STEM Day Camp Administration. She is a mother of two young children whom she home schools.
